Thanksgiving Sides

It's hard to believe that Thanksgiving is almost here. It seems like I was just at the beach! Nonetheless, it's less than 10 days away and I'm already looking forward to every delicious morsel. We're having a houseful so I'm super excited. The more, the merrier!

I've been thinking for a while about what I could make and the new recipes I want to try this year. I know that the turkey is the main attraction for most people, but for me it is all about the sides. (More mashed potatoes? Yes, please!) I've tried a couple of these recipes in the past, but am eager to test out a few more.

Maple Dijon Roasted Carrots: I made these carrots at Thanksgiving last year and they were a huge hit!  It was a last minute decision so I didn't have all of the ingredients, but they were still probably my favorite dish from last year.

Garlic-Parmesan Browned Butter Mashed Potatoes: Not to toot my own horn, but I feel like I've mastered mashed potatoes at home. My secret ingredient? Mix in some Boursin cheese.  However, as soon as I saw these mashed potatoes, I knew I had to try them.  What better occasion than Thanksgiving?

Bacon Green Bean Bundles: Bacon! Bacon! Bacon! You can't go wrong with bacon!

Honey Balsamic Roasted Brussels Sprouts: I've just started eating brussels sprouts over the past couple of years.  I order them at restaurants occasionally, but have only made them once at home.  They were okay but I think this recipe will take them to the next level.

Garlic Butter Smashed Sweet Potatoes with Parmesan: I don't care for sweet potatoes, but love sweet potato fries. Weird?  I know. These look too good for me to pass up though, so I figure they're worth a shot.

Orange Bourbon Cranberry Sauce: I'm a cranberry sauce from the can kind of girl, but for people like my mother who insists on homemade, this recipe sounds pretty delicious.

Honey-roasted Butternut Squash with Cranberries and Feta:  I'm thinking of making this for the office potluck. Who wouldn't want to eat something that looks this pretty?

Easy No-knead Cheddar Rolls:  Homemade bread is the best and cheese makes everything better.  Marry the two and you have rolls that are perfect for the holidays.

Caramelized Sweet Potato and Kale Fried Wild Rice: I've looked at this recipe for probably years now and I think it's about time I tried it.  It will add something to the traditional selection that's a little more unexpected.
