Home Crush of the Month: Mintwater Cottage

I've given a lot of thought lately to including a real estate section on my blog. It is afterall, what I do every day and it incorporates my love for interior design.  I believe that improving a home as you go, not only makes it your own, but also adds value.

I also know that a lot of you are at the point in life where you are getting ready to buy your first home and probably have a lot of questions about the homebuying process and whether or not you're ready for it. Sure, buying your first home can make you anxious but hopefully I'll be able to calm your nerves. Afterall, you should be excited about buying your first Rhode Island home!

In my real estate notes, I hope to offer some insights about Rhode Island real estate and home buying and selling tips. I'll also highlight a fews homes for sale and rent and share with you my home crush of the month. And of course, if you have any questions, suggestions or something to add, don't hesitate to reach out to me.

With that said, welcome to Mintwater Cottage;your little piece of the English countryside right here in the Ocean State and this week's home inspiration. Originally built in 1750, this antique Portsmouth home still features its original fir floors and exposed chestnut beams adding character everywhere you look.

I immediately fell in love with this home when I saw it so some of you may have already seen the first pic on my Instagram. I couldn't wait to share it! This home is 3,100 square feet including 4 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, and 4 living areas, yet every room looks cozy and welcoming. Past owners have made functional updates, yet kept its original character.

Who wouldn't love cozying up to one of its 4 fireplaces with a good book?

And, as charming as the interior is, I have to say, I think the exterior of this home is even more enticing. The 2 acres of landscaped grounds are covered with thousands of daffodils, hydrangeas, azaleas, and fruit trees. Top that off with babbling Mintwater Brook and a stone bridge leading to a secret garden and you are in my idea of backyard heaven! Nevermind the finished barn/studio that could serve as a fantastic private retreat.

This listing is offered by Lila Delman Real Estate. Contact me with any questions that you may have. I'd love to show it to you!
