Designer Highlight: James Farmer

A few weeks ago I was scrolling through the explore page on Instagram and I stumbled across an interior designer named James Farmer (@jamestfarmer).  It wasn't long before I was mesmerized by his instagram feed and researching Farmer's design company online.

James Farmer is based in Perry, Georgia.  Having been raised in the South, he enjoys designing traditional interiors with a twist.  He wants his "clients to love being home, or longing to be, in a very personal and lovely space whether it is a place for solitude or company."

Perhaps that’s why I'm so intrigued by Farmer's designs.  I've always been drawn to traditional interiors (and fashions for that matter) that have a hint of bohemia or an eclectic twist.

I'm very impressed by how comfortable and welcoming every room looks.  I love all of the different textures and design elements Farmer uses in his interiors - each room appears to be well thought out and extremely detailed, yet you can tell that the room is lived in and not just there for display.

In a way I'm kind of surprised that I haven't come across James Farmer before.  His work has been featured in Traditional Home and House Beautiful.  He also has a collection of coffee table books covering decor, cooking and entertaining.

I always love a good before and after but frequently the before photos are never to be seen.  One thing I appreciated about Farmer is that he often shows the before photos of a room.  If you have a chance to scroll through his Instagram feed, you'll probably be just as impressed as I was about the transformation that happened in the front hall above.

I hope all of you enjoy James Farmer's work as much as I do!
