My mom and I decided to take a spontaneous trip to Cape Cod last weekend. She had been looking online at an auction preview and found a chair that she "had to have" for MY apartment. I'm not complaining, she's just interesting like that - haha. We met up Friday afternoon and off we went.
I spent a good amount of my childhood on the Cape at my grandparents' house in Yarmouthport. We were both pretty excited for this trip because we had not been back to visit together in quite a few years. Unfortunately, we didn't arrive until late on Friday so after stuffing ourselves with one of the best dinners ever, we didn't even make it to the movie we had intended to see. We just turned in for an early night.
The next morning we woke up early and walked through Sandwich before heading to the auction preview. For those of you who have never been to Sandwich on the Cape, I'd whole heartedly recommend a trip!
The last stop on our trip was Gray's Beach in Yarmouthport. It's small, but absolutely stunning. There's a long boardwalk that seems to go on forever and at high tide you can jump off the end. My favorite thing, though, is that during low tide you can walk for miles to the point where you feel like you are on a different planet since all concept of civilization is lost. This past summer I went out with my friends on a foggy day and it was an unbelievable experience because weren't even able to see any land at all.
Sometimes impromptu trips are the best ones ever. This one was. Oh, and my chair looks great in my apartment!
All the best,
Devon
Impromptu weekend getaways are a great way to recharge your batteries!! That boardwalk looks amazing and I hope you show us that chair soon in your apt decorating updates!
